Scaling authentic storytelling through AI-powered video creation

Traditional customer testimonials often felt static and disconnected from the vibrant community we were building. My strategy was to bridge this gap by transforming written customer feedback into dynamic, voice-driven video content that could scale without losing authenticity.

The approach centered on leveraging text-to-voice AI to create a consistent, professional narrative voice while maintaining the genuine sentiment of customer feedback. By developing a streamlined workflow that could process multiple customer stories simultaneously, we could produce engaging video content at the pace our community demanded while preserving the personal touch that makes testimonials compelling.

The Challenge

Balancing automation with authenticity at scale

Creating authentic customer insight videos at scale presented multiple obstacles. Manual video production was resource-intensive and time-consuming, often taking weeks to produce a single testimonial video. Many customers were willing to provide written feedback but hesitant to appear on camera or record audio, limiting our pool of potential stories.

The technical challenge involved finding the right balance between automation and authenticity—ensuring the AI-generated voice felt natural and trustworthy while maintaining consistency across different types of customer feedback. This required extensive testing of different AI voice platforms, including Eleven Labs, Hume.AI, and Descript, to find voices that matched a more natural, conversational tone rather than the robotic delivery that often plagues automated content. Additionally, we needed to design a workflow that could handle varying lengths and styles of customer input while producing polished, brand-aligned video content.

The Outcome

Transforming engagement and building stronger community connections

The integration of text-to-voice AI transformed our community engagement metrics dramatically. Customers became significantly more willing to participate in user groups, knowing their stories could be shared in a professional, low-pressure format. The quality and accessibility of these videos led to increased quote submissions, with customers feeling more confident that their feedback would be presented effectively.

Most remarkably, several customers who initially provided written testimonials through this system went on to become speakers at our events, having seen how their stories resonated when professionally presented. The overall impact was substantial: these AI-powered insight videos helped increase interest in customers becoming part of the Invoca Community by 46%, demonstrating how the right technology can amplify authentic human stories to build stronger, more engaged communities.
